About Prana Lodge

A Sublime Setting

Overlooking the Indian Ocean in the heart of South Africa’s Wild Coast, Chintsa East is one of the Eastern Cape’s most picturesque spots. Boasting pristine sandy beaches and untouched wilderness areas bursting with indigenous flora and fauna, Chintsa is a world away from the stresses of modern life and yet within an easy 40-minute drive from East London Airport.

Nestled in dune forest and indigenous gardens overlooking Chintsa Bay, Prana Lodge Private Beach Estate & Spa is an exclusive and intimate hideaway which offers its guests a chance to truly relax and re-energise, completely surrounded by the calming influences of nature and within the nurturing care of the lodge’s welcoming staff.

Named after the Sanskrit word Prana, meaning ‘life force’ or ‘breath’, owners Tim and Gail Davidson created Prana Lodge with the express intention of allowing guests the opportunity to share in the healing powers of the area’s magnificent natural surroundings and to leave feeling completely refreshed – physically, mentally and spiritually.

A Haven of Comfort

Guests at Prana Lodge can look forward to supreme comfort, personalised and unobtrusive service, privacy, exceptional cuisine and luxury accommodation.

Each of the lodge’s eight suites are individually decorated and feature South African artwork, Persian carpets and king sized beds. As well as air conditioning and spacious en suite bathrooms, the suites also offer all the pre-requisite five-star mod cons. Six of the suites are surrounded by indigenous gardens and feature their own walled, private patio and plunge pool, while the Forest suite is nestled in the dune forest.

The Diamond Villa, our presidential villa,  is spacious beyond what is necessary and features a separate TV- and coffee-lounge that leads onto a private deck with a pool and garden shower. The bathroom is enormous and its vintage bath and double shower both offer magnificent views. While the large bedroom has been decorated with modern flair, it maintains the same homely feel associated with the rest of Prana Lodge

Guests at Prana Lodge have the use of an outdoor pool, several cozy lounge areas, a bar and a library, as well as access to the area’s many natural attractions.

Outdoor Pursuits

Birdwatchers are spoilt for choice at Prana Lodge while Chintsa Beach is perfect for walking, jogging, surfing and kite boarding. Deep sea fishing can be arranged, as can a round of golf at the prestigious Olivewood Golf Course, bowls and tennis at the Chintsa Country Club and game drives in the nearby Inkwenkwezi Private Game Reserve.

Soul Food

Prana Lodge Restaurant delivers a distinctive dining experience which features a unique fusion of African, Asian and French cuisine under the expert guidance of the lodge’s renowned head chef. The cuisine is complemented by an extensive wine list, as well as the restaurant’s inviting ambience.

Massage Your Troubles Away

Set in beautiful indigenous gardens, the lodge’s Spa and Wellness Centre is a holistic sanctuary which nurtures body, mind and spirit in pampering luxury.

Each guest receives an individual assessment from the spa’s therapists, which ensures that all health and beauty treatments are tailored to suit their individual needs. These include a variety of massages, facials and body treatments which are complemented by the use of specially created aromatic oils, rubs and ointments, the ingredients for which are picked from the spa’s own herb garden.

The Spa also boasts a steam room, sauna, gym and  jet pool and juice bar
